2006 Mercedes Benz E350 Navigation Volume is so loud. Could not reduce the volume. Need help on this.? I am unable to reduce my navigation volume. It is so loud and not able to use navigation system for this reason. I dont see that option anywhere.

Mitch replied: "This is the best answer i could think of.... take a piece of duck tape and a small hand towel. Hold the towel up to the speaker of it and tape it on. It should kind of mute it. Good luck with that...."

Robert S replied: "The navigation volume will only turn down/up while the navigation voice is talking. Once the voice is not talking, your volume control goes back to adjusting the audio portion of your COMAND Unit. If you miss the voice talking, press the RPT (Repeat) button below the screen and while the voice is repeating the directions, you can then easily adjust the volume."

2006 Mercedes Benz E350 RWD capable of driving in snow in the DC area? I am contemplating purchasing a used 06 MB E350 RWD. ESP and Traction Control (one in the same?) come standard. I don't intend on putting on snow chains or winter tires, so should I be OK to drive in the snow that we get around DC / MD / Northern VA? Any experience you can share will be greatly appreciated. Granted, the snow that we get here pales in comparison to Maine, but is more than I ever saw in Tampa Bay, FL. My driving style is befitting of an 80 year old woman, so I am not one to drive more than 35-40 mph in snowy conditions. Having never owned a RWD vehicle before, all the reviews I've read about driving a RWD car is that they all explode into 5 million pieces as soon as the first snowflake hits the hood of the car. 12/1/2008 update Thanks so much so far for all the responses!

Earl s replied: "FWD didn't become popular till the 80s, so I think RWD should be fine. Not to mention, FWD doesn't handle as well as RWD with large engines."

Eddy replied: "You should be fine as long as you don't drive too fast and you don't take corners fast or step on the throttle too much. Remember, Mercedes comes from Germany, and in Germany it snows a lot, so if they're fine with so many RWD cars, then you should be too in the D.C area."

Jay P replied: "ESP stands for Electronic Stability Platform. What it does is if it senses that the vehicle is sliding or over/under steering, it will brake individual wheels to help bring the car back to its intended path. Traction control is just that, it cuts down on the wheel spin to allow for better traction. While Benz vehicles have a lot of electronics to give you better traction, the traction you do have is still dependent on 4 little pieces of rubber ( the tire contact patch ) on the road. If you equip your Benz with proper winter tires, your car's grip on the road just increased dramatically during the colder and more slippery winter months."

Dani G replied: "I don't know how much snow you receive in the DC area, but I can speak to my experience as a Canadian driving a C320 wagon (and occasionally my wife's SLK320 roadster also RWD of course). Electronic aids notwithstanding, this car is a pig (if you'll forgive my language) in anything but the slightest sprinkling of snow. It is much worse than some old RWD Volvos I've owned and which didn't have the benefit of TC and ESP. In truth, traction control and quality snow tires do help, but they are not magic. The car is really ok once it's underway, but getting going can be a challenge. ESP and traction control use basically the same sensors, to perform similar, but different, tasks. Traction control intervenes when a drive wheel is spinning. It helps the car to get going in slippery conditions. ESP, or Electronic Stability Program, intervenes when the car is already underway and starts to go into a skid. It acts on each brake individually to help you regain control and keep the car on the road."

Allstate insurance in NY- Question Hi. I live in New York City and we have a leased 2007 Lexus es350, leased 2008 lexus gs350 and a leased 2007 Mercedes Benz e350, all using allstate insurance. I am under my parent's policy. I am very curious to know how much the insurance would cost for the lexus es350, because soon I'll be paying for it once I get out of school and have the ability to do so, since that's my car. I am 17 years old, turning 18 in November. I have had my unrestricted driver's license since December 2007. I also took driver's education, and we receive an insurance discount for taking driver's ed. No accidents or moving violations. Approximately how much does it cost now, and how much will it cost in about 2-3 years from now if all these conditions remain the same? Thanks
